Sheli

 (Left Camp)

Sheli

Founded in 1977

A left-wing list established in 1977, the Left Camp of Israel (Mahaneh Sheli or the "Sheli Camp") included individuals who had left Moked, some Black Panthers, and members of several other small left-wing movements. The list’s platform called for complete withdrawal from the territories and the establishment of a Palestinian state, the abolishment of discrimination against Israeli Arabs, fighting against religious coercion, raising workers’ wages, and reducing social gaps. Sheli received two seats in the 1977 elections for the Ninth Knesset. However, prior to the next elections, many of its active members left the party, and consequently, it did not pass the electoral threshold and disintegrated at that point.
