IDI Appoints Noach Hacker as Vice President of Policy
Noach Hacker has been appointed the Israel Democracy Institute's Vice President of Policy, a new position embodying the Institute's commitment to substantive policy impact at the most senior level of the organization. Hacker, an economist and public policy expert specializing in the intersection of economics, national security, and government, brings nearly two decades of policymaking experience in senior leadership positions across Israel’s public and private sectors.
Prior to joining IDI, Hacker served as the State of Israel’s Economic Minister in Washington and the Ministry of Finance’s senior economic representative in the United States, leading economic engagement with the U.S. administration, Congress, regulators, financial institutions, and technology companies on issues including trade, technology, supply chains, and the economic-security nexus. Previously, he held several senior positions at Israel’s Ministry of Finance, including Senior Deputy Director of the Budget Department, and served as a senior executive at Partner Communications and as a director of PHI Networks. Hacker is the author of “War of the Economies” (published in Hebrew), which examines economic power as an instrument of national security.
In his new role, Hacker will oversee IDI’s policy work and government relations and seek to foster greater synergies between the Institute's research activities and processes of policy design and implementation, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the influence of IDI’s research on policymaking and the public debate.
