State List
The State List (HaReshima HaMamlachtit) was established in 1969 by members of the Rafi party who opposed their party's planned merge into the Labor Party. Although the State List’s platform resembled that of Rafi, it was clear that the new party had distanced itself even further from the Labor movement than Rafi had done, and had adopted a more hawkish political stance. The list received four seats in the 1969 elections, but subsequently collapsed. Once Ben-Gurion, who was among the party's founders, left politics, Meir Avizohar, the number two on the list, joined the Labor party, and Yigael Hurwitz, number three on the list, joined the Likud.
