IDI President Dr. Arye Carmon on the Ehud Olmert Verdict
In this video interview, conducted after Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was acquitted of most of the charges against him, IDI Former President and Founder Dr. Arye Carmon expresses the need to find an appropriate balance between the preservation of the rule of law and other democratic values. Objecting to the fact that an acting prime minister was forced to step down because of charges that proved to be false, Dr. Carmon decries what he sees as the zealousness of the State Prosecutor and warns that the combination of a zealous State Prosecutor and a zealous State Comptroller is a threat to Israel's democratic institutions.
