On This Night We All Recline: A Discussion on Accessibility and Inclusion of People with Disabilities in the Family and Community

Sunday, March 17, 2013, 7:30PM-9:30PM, Ramban Synagogue, 4 Amatzia St., Jerusalem – At the Passover Seder, Jews the world over celebrate their redemption and freedom. But does the special needs community enjoy this freedom as well? What can be done to better integrate them into our families and communities by drawing on Jewish sources?

Rabbi Dr. Benjamin (Benny) Lau, head of the Israel Democracy Institute's Human Rights and Judaism in Action project and rabbi of Jerusalem's Ramban Synagogue, will hold a special, public pre-Passover event on accessibility and inclusion of people with special needs.

Participants include:

  • Dr. Micah Goodman, Rosh Midrasha of Ein Prat – The Academy for Leadership
  • Mr. Ahiya Kamara, Commissioner, Commission for Equal Rights for People with Disabilities, Ministry of Justice
  • Mr. Yoav Kraiem, Chairman, National Council for the Rehabilitation in the Community of Persons with Mental Disabilities

This event is being held in cooperation with the Ramban Synagogue and in partnership with The Ruderman Family Foundation. The event is in memory of Roi Abuhav Shavit z"l on the 10th anniversary of his death.
