Sanctions on Haredi Draft Dodgers: Public Opinion Survey of Non-Haredi Jews

| Written By:

The survey findings indicate very broad support in the non-Haredi public, across all groups and political camps, for imposing sanctions and withdrawing benefits—including sanctions that could have severe economic consequences for Haredim, and in some cases, even go so far as to infringe on their rights. These findings reflect the depth of the frustration in the non-Haredi Jewish public at the conduct of the Haredi leadership in resisting military service, and at the state and the government for allowing and funding draft dodging, disregarding the principle of equality under the law in a matter of life and death.
