Those that slander the Supreme Court are responsible
The Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) spoke out strongly against the graffiti painted on the Supreme Court building, discovered Nov. 4, and said it is a direct result of the slander that has been recently put out there against the court system by Israeli public activists. IDI stressed that it is the job of the Prime Minister and the parties to defend the rule of law.
The Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) spoke out strongly against the graffiti painted on the Supreme Court building, discovered Nov. 11, and said it is a direct result of the slander that has been recently put out there against the court system by Israeli public activists. IDI stressed that it is the job of the Prime Minister and the parties to defend the rule of law.
IDI President Yohanan Plesner said, "The graffiti on the wall of the Supreme Court is an unfortunate outcome and result of the slander, which has been fueled by those hands of those who are supposed to defend the state. It is the responsibility of the Prime Minister and party members to stand up against this transgression and to be clear that there is a consensus in our political system to see the Supreme Court as among the foundations of our independent and democratic nation."
IDI Vice President Mordechai Kremnitzer expressed disappointment at the event and said, "The writing was already on the wall due to the slander that has been hammered at the Supreme Court by leaders in recent months. … It is no surprise that we reached this low point [yesterday morning]. The act is a direct result of the corrupt attitude flung at the Supreme Court. The transgressors must be responsible for retracting their statements and condemning any harm done to the court, the judges and the rule of law in Israel. If they don't do so, they will be responsible for any further harm because of the poisonous atmosphere they have created."
IDI Vice President Yedidia Stern said, "It is forbidden to harm Jewish sovereignty in the name of the pathology of Judaism. The Supreme Court is the supreme expression of Jewish sovereignty in our generation and it is the only place where it is possible to resolve disputes between brothers in a peaceful way. The last time that Jews resolved arguments between themselves in ways that were not peaceful, our nation was destroyed. The supreme Jewish responsibility is to appeal to the Supreme Court and accept the yoke of it Kingship."
