Alongside the advantages of intelligence gathered from online surveillance of communication networks, consideration must also be given to the significant violation of privacy. Nevertheless ther has been almost no discussion of the rules regulating online surveillance for security puposes or existing legislation and its compatibility with today's social and technological realities.
