New Hope

Founded in 2020

New Hope is a right-wing party founded in December 2020, on the eve of the elections to the 24th Knesset, by Gideon Saar after he left Likud. Saar claimed that the Likud "became a tool for the personal interests of its leader," alluding to the sole government led by Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu. New Hope won only six seats and towards the 2022 elections, joined Benny Gantz's Blue & White in a joint list under the label the National Unity Party. In 2024 New Hope split from the list and changed its name to the The United Right.

Following the 2021 elections, New Hope joined the coalition headed by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. Three of its members were appointed as cabinet ministers: Gidoen Sa'ar (justice), Yifat Shaha-Biton (Education) and Ze'ev Elkin (Housing). After the Octover 7th attack (2023) two ministers of New Hope joined Netanyahu's government, but resigned several months later. In November 2024 New Hope (now rebranded The United Right) again joined the government.
