The Call to Exclude Arabs Is Unacceptable

In reaction to recent statements, IDI President Yohanan Plesner stated the following:

"The calls to exclude Arabs from employment are wholly unacceptable. Israeli politicians must follow the example of the authors of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. Even in that critical period when the nascent Jewish settlement of Palestine was in danger of extinction, they rose above base instincts and called to maintain full equality between Jews and Arabs. All the more so, even during difficult days like those of late, we must maintain the spirit of equality as embodied in the Declaration of Independence and not allow the actions of the violent fringe to shape our relations with our Arab neighbors."
